These days everyone seems to be looking for ways to save money. One of my favorite activities to do with my friends is to go get pedicures. These nail outings can really add up, especially if you get these treatments regularly. I have always justified spending the money on my toes because A: it’s nice to be pampered and B: they come out much better then if I was to do them myself. If you figure you are spending about $30 per pedicure (which is actually a lot cheaper then they normally are) and you get them once a month that is $360 a year. Just think that money could be going toward shoes! Here is how to give your-self the salon worthy pedicure.

1. The first thing you want to do is soak your feet in some warm water. I recommend adding bath salts or even sea salt will do. You can also add lemon which will help remove bacteria in your feet. You want your feet to soak for at least 10 minutes. Once you are done soaking make sure you remove all of your nail polish.
2. Next you want to trim your toenails. Once the nails have been trimmed use a nail -file to smooth over the edges.
3. Now soak your feet in warm water again, this time for about 5 minutes. You may want to add extra virgin olive oil to help moisturize your feet and soften the cuticles. At this time it is a good idea to have a nail brush handy to scrub your nails and a pumice stone to remove dry skin on your feet.
4. Use a manicure stick to gently push back your cuticles. Once this is done apply foot cream to your feet. If you do not have any foot lotion regular lotion can be used as well. Massage the lotion into your feet leaving your tootsies nice and moist.
5. Ideally you want to have toe separators to make painting your toes easier. If you do not have any toe separators you could also use cotton balls in between your toes. Now apply the base coat to your toes. Next apply the color to your toes. Lastly add the top coat. Now simply let your toes dry. To quicken this process you can use a hair dryer. Once they are dried get out those adorable open toed shoes and enjoy!
